INDIA has faced a series of climatic disasters in recent years, largely attributed to climate change and extreme weather patterns. Key events include:

  1. FLOODS:

KERALA FLOODS (2018, 2021 AND 2024) : Heavy monsoon rains led to severe flooding, displacing over a million people and causing heavy damage to infrastructure. 5. FOREST FIRES :

Increased temperatures and dryconditions have led to more frequent and intense forest fires in states like Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

  6. GLACIAL MELTING:

The Himalayas have experienced rapid glacial melting, leading to an increase in glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs),threatening communities downstreams.

These climatic disasters highlight the urgent need for adaptive measures, sustainable practices and improved disaster management strategies to mitigate impacts and support affected communities.
